Kyrgyzstan trekking: Tour 07 Country: Kyrgyzstan Activity: Trekking tour Time of the tour: 13 days We will help you to explore unique country of Kyrgyzstan that is situated in the heart of Tian-Shan Mountains. Kyrgyz Republic is the land of bright contrasts that offer a multitude of fantastic landscapes: green fields, sandy deserts, turquoise lakes, snowy mountains, fast rivers, wide steppes, and an abundance of wild life with many endangered and rare species, archeological and historical places associated with Great Silk Way and people who preserve their nomadic ancestors' traditions. That is why Kyrgyz Republic is sometimes called "Switzerland of Central Asia". Places to visit: Bishkek - Chon Kemin valley - Tamga - Barskoon gorge - Dunguromo Pass - Dugurotmo gorge - Chokolu Lake - Zauka Pass - Dzukuu gorge - Ashu Kashka Suu gorge - Ashu Tor Pass - Jukuchak gorge - Orto Bulak Pass - Kichi Kyzyl Suu gorge - Chon Kyzyl Suu gorge - Jili Suu - Kok Dzhayyk Pass - Jeti Oguz gorge - Karakol - Kochkor - Bishkek Day 1: Bishkek - Chon Kemin valley (170 km - 4 h) Transfer from Manas International Airport. You will be accompanied by your guide to Bishkek. The drive till Bishkek City will take half an hour. In Dungan (Chinese Muslims) guesthouse you will start the day with a breakfast. In case of the early hours arrival we can offer you a nice room with comfortable beds and you will be able to take a shower. The second part of the day is dedicated to Bishkek City Tour, including lunch. The tour will be guided. It includes the visiting of the central Ala-Too Square, Duboviy Park (Oak Park), Pobeda Square (Victory Square), National philharmonic, Osh Bazaar, Art Gallery and many others places of interest. After transfer to Chon Kemin valley. Dinner and overnight is in Ashuu guesthouse.On the way visiting the Burana Museum, a site of a medieval city of Balasagun, the capital of the Karahanids (Turkic dynasty of the 11 century).
Day 2: Chon Kemin valley - Tamga (150 km - 4 h) You will have time after breakfast for a photo session to capture all the beauty of Chon Kemin Valley. Chon Kemin is large alpine valley, where you have a wonderful chance to see genuine Kyrgyz nomads. They live in yurts in the Tien- Shan Mountains surrounded by fast rivers, fir trees almost like it was 1000 years ago. We will stop not far from Chon-Kemin to have a walk for two hours in Konorchek labyrinths, before our departure to Tamga Village. At the end of the gorge you will have a magic view of the red mountains. Here the picnic is organized. Afterwards we will go on with our trip to the southern shore of Issik Kul lake, to Tamga Village. Issyk - Kul is the world's 2nd largest alpine lake and the biggest lake on the territory of Kyrgyz Republic. There is a sanatorium in Tamga. As the altitude and climate created just perfect conditions the soviet astronauts used to rehabilitate and train their skills there. En route to Tamga we will visit famous hunter with golden eagles - Talgat. He will tell us about his birds. Then we could do some photos of the birds of prey. You will have sometime to swim in the lake upon arrival in Tamga Village. You will be accommodated in Askar Guesthouse.
Day 3: Tamga - Barskoon gorge - Dunguromo Pass (3570 m) - Dugurotmo gorge (5 hours) After the morning meal we will drive to the village of Barskoon. There we will visit the family who are engaged with manufacturing of yurts. This will be a credible opportunity to disclose the secret of producing those wonderful nomadic abodes. Then we continue our way to Barskoon gorge, one of the most picturesque places in the mountainous Terskey Ala Too. You will see one of the highest waterfalls (60 meters high, alt. 2500 m) in Kyrgyzstan, as well as the monument for Urii Gagarin, with a sign of first cosmonaut. This place is starting point for our trekking. We will have an ascent to Dunguromo pass (3100 m) passing over which we find ourselves in a wonderful valley Dunguromo. After a few kilometers down from the pass, we stop for the camping. Night is in tents at the altitude of 2850 m. Dinner will give us an opportunity to share with impressions of the first day and to relax.
Day 4: Dungurotmo gorge - Zauka Pass (3750 m) - Chokolu Lake (7 hours) Early, at around 7 o'clock in the morning we wake up. Today we have an « upright » hike over Zauka Pass, which is considered to be a historical pass, the part of the great Silk Road to the Lake of Chokolu. In olden times such famous travelers as Ella Mayart (1932), Semenov Tien - Shansky (1856) passed this place; 200 years ago the Chinese Muslims are also known came from China. The climate is close to tundra. What concern's landscape, it is relatively flat. From vegetation fine grass and moss prevail. We will set up our camp for the night coming closer to the lake. At the altitude of 3800 meters a. s. l. night is in tents. Day 5: Chokolu Lake - Zauka Pass (3750 m) - Dzukuu gorge - Ashu Kashka Suu gorge We have to get back to the Zauka pass. After breakfast we will have to put in order all our equipment and things to immerse them all on the horse and we will go further, passing Zauka we will reach the Dzhukuu valley. Then we go down the gorge about 20 km and reach the foot of the Ashu Kashka Suu gorge where we set up camp for the night. On the way we meet with Kyrgyz nomads who live here in summer season. You will be pleasantly surprised Kyrgyz nomads' welcome. We will try Kyrgyz cheese there and if you want you can try fermented mare's milk - Kyrgyz beer. Evening meal and overnight is in tents at the altitude of 2770 m.
Day 6: Ashu Kashka Suu gorge - Ashu Tor Pass (3490 m) - Jukuchak gorge (7 hours) We will have to prepare all of our gear early in the morning. Then we will hike up Ashu Kashka Suu Gorge. We make a short halt for lunch having reached the foot of the pass. Afterwards we will have to climb to (3490 m.) Ashu Tor Pass. We get into Dzhukuchak Gorge after the pass. Here we are given an opportunity to take a bath in the hot mineral waters. Our guide will offer you a local beer after good bath. It is real Kyrgyz beer. Overnight stay is at an altitude of 2500 m. in the tent camp. Dinner.
Day 7: Dzhukuchak gorge - Orto Bulak Pass (2900 m) - Kichi Kyzyl Suu gorge In the morning we will go towards the. First we reach Kichi Kyzyl Suu Valley of Issyk Kul forestry that is located in the Dzhukuchak gorge. Further we have to climb to the pass Orto Bulak (2900 m). Then we come within reach of to the Kichi Kyzyl Suu gorge where we break our camp for the night. This place is well-known for its incredible beauty and stunning views of mountains. The night you are supposed to be spent in tents at the altitude of 2300 m. Dinner. Sharing impressions of the Kichi Kyzyl Suu Valley, Dzhukuchak Gorge, Orto Bulak Pass.
Day 8: Kichi Kyzyl Suu gorge - Chon Kyzyl Suu gorge - Jili Suu water warm springs We begin our trekking towards the picturesque Valley of ChonKyzyl Suu after a good breakfast. First we have to go down through the territory of forestry to Kichi Kyzyl Suu Gorge. Followed by that, we will go along Djily Suu Mountains. And finally we approach the Gorge of Chon Kyzyl Suu, where we enter Ak Tash area. The region is famous for its beauty. Nomads and magnificent mountains make you feel like you are on the top of the world! Then we go up to the warm mineral springs for about three miles. We will be able again to take a warm bath and to relax. Overnight stay is at the altitude of 2150 m. in the tent camp.
Day 9: Chon Kyzyl Suu gorge - Kok Dzhayyk Pass (2700 meters) - Jeti Oguz gorge After breakfast we start this last day of trekking en route of the Jeti Oguz gorge. First, we go down to the place of Ak Tash, where we cross the river Kyzyl Suu (Red River). After that we begin the ascent to the pass Kok Dzhayyk. The road will pass through a small pine forest, which will impress you with its daed silence. It seems as if the whole world looks at you there. After the forest we will have a look at the Jeti Oguz gorge - one of the most popular places to visit in Kyrgyzstan. Magnificent nature of this Valley impress you for sure. After a couple of kilometers we reach the yurt camp at the altitude of 2300 m Kok Dzhayyk (the Valley of Flowers) where we spend this overnight. Dinner and night in yurt camp.
Day 10: Jety Oguz gorge - Karakol (30 km - 1 h) Our journey will continue in the capital of Issik Kul region direction as soon as we finish with breakfast. Check-in is in the hotel "Elita"**. Today, in order to understand the Kyrgyz life of the 19th century we will visit the Holy Trinity Cathedral and the wooden mosque constructed in the Chinese Style. We will visit also Prjevalsky Memorial Complex, dedicated to the Great Russian explorer of Central Asia. We drive to Dyishin Village in the evening, where we will have dinner with Chinese Muslims. They are good at agriculture and very famous for national cuisine. We will have an opportunity to try different kinds of salads and of course national Dungan bread. Here they are called the Dungans. When it was a war between Chinese and not Chinese nationalities and religions 200 years ago, Chinese Muslims came in Kyrgyzstan. After having dinner we come back to the hotel.
Day 11: Karakol - Kochkor village (330 km - 6 h) Early in the morning we depart from Karakol to the Kochkor village. Kochkor is the most appropriate place in the republic for discovering national traditions and customs, watch the process of making traditional Kyrgyz felt carpets and visit a handicraft museum. Also we will see and participate in the process of settling a yurt, a traditional collapsible felt house of nomads. On the way to Kochkor we will drive along the north shore of Issyk Kul Lake - it means you will see the "pearl of Central Asia" form all sights! Dinner in a yurt and carpet-making show is organized especially for you. Overnight is in a guesthouse. In the evening you will listen to the Folk-concert. Day 12: Kochkor - Bishkek In the morning you will be transferred from Kochkor Village to Bishkek City. Upon arrival in Bishkek you will have spare time to go for shopping or to walk in the capital. Accommodation is in a guesthouse.
Day 13: Bishkek - Europe Departure transfer to Manas International Airport. You will be met and accompanied by your guide at the hotel at the pick up time arranged previously according to your flight details.
